Quality Manager
Plymouth
£390 per day (PAYE including Holiday Pay)
£25 per day travel allowance or £50 per day subsistence

A major construction programme operating within a secure defence environment requires an experienced Quality Manager to play a key role in the delivery of a significant South West infrastructure project.
Based on a live operational site, you will be responsible for maintaining strong standards across quality assurance, compliance and improvement activities. The position will ensure robust quality processes are applied consistently throughout the programme, supporting safe, compliant and efficient project delivery.
Due to the secure nature of the site, security clearance must be obtained before starting. The clearance process can take several weeks and eligibility will depend on factors including nationality, citizenship and residency history.

The Role

As Quality Manager, you will lead the project’s approach to quality, collaborating with senior project teams, client representatives and other key stakeholders to ensure standards are maintained throughout each phase of delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating, implementing and maintaining the project Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Setting clear quality objectives aligned with project requirements and wider organisational goals
  • Coordinating and leading internal, external and certification audits
  • Leading, mentoring and developing the quality team, including recruitment and performance management
  • Investigating complex quality matters and working with multidisciplinary teams to implement effective solutions
  • Maintaining compliance with client specifications, regulatory requirements and recognised industry standards
  • Producing quality performance reports and updates for senior leadership and client stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and embedding quality considerations within project risk management

About You

The successful Quality Manager will bring substantial experience gained within construction, civil engineering or major infrastructure environments, combined with a track record of implementing and managing effective quality processes.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Construction industry experience 
  • HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction, Quality or another relevant discipline
  • Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and relevant ISO standards
  • Previous experience managing, mentoring and developing quality teams
  • Effective communication, organisation and strategic decision-making skills
  • Proven capability in audit management, compliance and continuous improvement programmes
  • The ability to develop trusted relationships and positively influence stakeholders across all levels
