The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Transport Planner to join a thriving and growing team, working on a varied portfolio of development-led planning projects for private-sector clients.
You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on exposure across all aspects of transport planning, supported by structured mentoring and ongoing training.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Feasibility Studies, and Travel Plans
  • Analysing traffic generation, distribution, and junction capacity
  • Conducting site visits along with accessibility and active travel audits
  • Supporting the development of multi-modal access strategies and off-site highway improvements
  • Using industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, TRICS, TEMPRO, and JUNCTIONS
  • Collaborating with internal teams, including Flood Risk & Drainage specialists

You’ll gain involvement throughout the full project lifecycle, developing both your technical expertise and commercial understanding.

Training & Development

You’ll be part of a team led by a Chartered Transport Planner who is also an accredited professional reviewer—offering an excellent foundation for mentoring and career progression.
The consultancy provides a structured and accredited training programme, combining internal support with external development opportunities to help you progress toward professional qualifications.

About You

We’re seeking a driven and enthusiastic Transport Planner who can bring:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline
  • An MSc in Transport Planning (desirable, not essential)
  • Around 2–4 years’ experience in development-focused transport planning (ideally within the private sector)
  • Experience supporting Transport Assessments, feasibility studies, and access strategies
  • A desire to work toward professional accreditation (IEng, CEng, or TPP)
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and report-writing abilities
  • Knowledge of current standards such as MfS and DMRB
  • Experience with software such as ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, GIS, and Excel
  • Exposure to CAD/GIS tools (beneficial but not essential)
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine eagerness to learn and develop
